The GMAT

The GMAT (which stands for "Graduate Management Admission Test") is a standardized test that is required by most U.S. MBA programs. In other words, if you want to get an MBA in the US, you'll most likely have to take the GMAT. (Be careful--many MBA programs that offer an MBA at a low price or on-line are not accredited business schools. See on-line education for more information.)

The GMAT consists of three different sections: the Verbal section, the Quantitative section, and the Analytical Writing Assessment (the "AWA"). All sections are timed.

The GMAT is administered on computer and is what is called an adaptive test, meaning later questions will be easier or harder depending on your earlier performance on the questions. See adaptive test for more detailed information.
